cVPP
Project Type: Design Project
Course: User, Society & Entrepreneurship basic
Study year: 2 semester B
Central Virtual Power Plant is a project that takes place in multiple cities all over Europe. CVPP connects houses, solar panels, and other sources of electricity in a neighborhood's power grid, providing locally produced sustainable electricity. Our job was to make a video that would interest an audience that usually is not really thinking a lot about where their electricity comes from; 18-28 years old.
Sterilumen
Project Type: Design Project
Course: From Idea to Design
Study year: 1 semester A
Healthcare workers are supposed to wash their hands 60-80 times a day. However, they do this only 30-40 times a day. A reason for this is the inconvenience or no washing stations directly near them. Therefore, we designed a pocket that sterilizes hands with UV-c light. This might seem scary, and it is. But some frequencies are more harmful than others, and it also depends on the time that you are exposed to it. Exposing your hands for short amounts of time mostly affects the bacteria and upper (dead) layer of the skin.
Vibracelet
Project Type: Design Project
Course: Engineering Design
Study year: 2 semester A
For this project, we had to work with different studies at our university, making it a multidisciplinary group. The goal was to make something for disabled sporters. We focused on blind tennis players. There is already a ball with a small tinkler in it, indicating the direction of the bell. After some user research, we found that it is still very hard to determine the distance. So, our device tracks the distance between the tennis ball and player and translates this into vibrations. The combination of vibrations and sound of the little bell helps the player to determine direction and distance.
